KILN SHELVES

CRYSTOLON® SiC RC4128 Kiln Shelves

Conventional, ram pressed silicon carbide shelves are the traditional “work horse” shelves used by potters firing to cones 9-12 in natural gas, propane, wood and multi-fuel kilns. Our traditional silicon carbide shelves are oxide bonded and over the last 40 years have proven to be a sound investment providing years of service life in demanding firing applications including gas reduction, wood, soda and salt.

ADVANCER® Nitride-Bonded Silicon Carbide CN-703 Kiln Shelves

ADVANCER kiln shelves are 19 times stronger, and weigh 50% less than conventional 1” thick cordierite kiln shelves and are made flat to stay flat so there’s no warping even after many firings under heavy loads. Advanced nitride-bonded silicon carbide (NSiC) is distinguished from conventional nitride-bonded silicon carbide in that it is significantly stronger, thinner and much more resistant to oxidation; suitable for temperatures up to 2600°F!
